This weekend I tried something new. Reading my last post I gave myself the task of unplugging. Going off the grid for a few days and using that time to recharge and regroup.
It was weird. It was quiet. I did nothing all weekend. & it was weird. I didn’t make it the entire weekend – I checked my stats twice and was addicted to pinterest when I should have been sleeping but nothing even close to what my usual pace is. I took that time to update my phone (hello iOS5! & iMessage!), to catch up on sleep and greet this week with a bit more energy.
It was something I realized I need to do more often – but not too often. I love social media, I love connecting and networking but I needed to realize that it is more then okay to take some time off. My blog wont disappear and it wasn’t as hard as I thought it would be. I am still trying to find that balance of work from home mom who runs 2 blogs, 2 freelance contracts and all that comes with that and running a household with three children and my husband. It is my work in progress but I finally feel like that balance is being reached.
Next goal: to go to sleep at a decent hour. This whole weekend I was up past 3 am and that is not unusual for me. It’s rare for me to sleep before 2 in the morning.
{side note: I am working on a post for Babble highlighting photos of real mom’s breastfeeding. if you have a photo you would be willing to contribute please email it to me with your name and blog url if you have one to accustomedchaos(@)gmail.com. Thanks!}
