Three years ago – my husband & I had two children, had just lost Triton and were now expecting a new babe. I remember very clearly going for our first ultrasound to make sure there was a babe and there was a heartbeat. 7 weeks. There was. we were blissfully happy – scared but at this point we learned to get excited no matter how short the pregnancy may end up being {it wouldnt hurt any less or more if we did}.
This pregnancy was going to be different then ours with Big P & Princess R. We had decided NOT to find out the gender at our 20 week ultrasound. That was hard for me because i am a PLANNER but, since we had a boy & girl already I figured we would be fine cause i had everything anyway and there is no nursery to decorate (we room share).
Babe E ultrasound at 7 weeks
So, there we were staring at our perfect baby & realized we needed a temporary name for this baby. With Big P & Princess R we found out their gender at 18-20 weeks gestation and from then on we referred to them by their name.
This time we had to get creative.
Except it didnt seem to take that long.
My husband gave one look at the ultrasound photo we were holding in our hands and said:
– Belly Bean –
The kids called my growing bump by that name, we bonded as a family using that name and though we had our boy & girl names chosen for when the birth happened when I first laid eyes on her after her birth I called her Belly Bean.
Here we are 2.5 years later and you know, we still call her by that name. We have since shortened it and we call her Bean most of the time. We call her that so often that when last week when we were out someone asked her what her name was and she replied with [Babe E] I was actually shocked that she knew her real name.
::What did you call your baby while you were pregnant? Do you still call your baby by that name?::

We called T the “Fruit Loop”. Because our last name was Loop. Well, his name and my ex-husband’s name is still Loop. Just not mine.
Anyway.
I still call him my Fruit Loop. Although not as much as calling him a myriad of other nicknames.

We called them both Cletus the Fetus. We don’t use that nickname anymore as it isn’t as funny as when they were in the womb.

Oh how sweet! You don’t want to even know we called my first son {at the time didn’t know the sex}. It’s a long and funny story. But in short, my hubby never agreed to the names I liked. One day goofing off I said, “You hate all of my names why don’t we name the baby Bert then!” Well that stuck and everyone called my bump “Bert”. We didn’t name him that {haha} but we did plant a tree for him and you know what the tree’s name is….you got it “Bert”!

How cute. When I was pregnant with my second child I called her a bean too because her first ultrasound picture she looked like a bean.

I love this post because my husband and I are trying to name our fetus right now. I’m 11 weeks tomorrow and we’ve tried everything. “T-pain” (unfortunately) stuck for awhile when we were jokingly thinking up rappers names. Other names we’ve suggested are “Dobby”, “David Bowie the Fetus”, “3PO”, “He Who Must Eventually Be Born”, and many others. Nothing perfect has been metioned because nothing has stuck permanently. But it’s pretty hilarious, the whole process…

My boyfriend’s sister is pregnant right now and she and her husband had a really hard time deciding on a name for the baby. Her husband wanted to call him Vladimir. We think he’s joking but we’re not 100% sure. They’ve since decided on a real name for him but he still calls the bump Vladimir. My parents called my brother “Tiger in the Tank” because he was ferociously active
