I have been married now for just over 6 years and I love reflecting back on the planning and on that day that I became my best friends wife. I had the perfect location, a gorgeous dress and the perfect first dance song.
When my husband and I were thinking about what song to choose – the perfect song- I kept coming back to one of my favourite movies – Moulin Rouge. I have a love on for musicals and I had never seen a Broadway show so when this movie came out in 2001 I watched with my jaw on the floor. It was beautiful – the costumes, the songs, the sets – incredible.
You might be wondering what this has to do with my wedding. Well, I loved one particular song in Moulin Rouge so much that exact song was the one my husband and I chose as our first dance wedding song.
Come What May is an incredible song. I am not a very emotional person but hearing this song now still makes me tear up. I love it. I love the way Ewan and Nicole sing it. I love the meaning behind the song and I love what “come what may” means. If you remember – I even tattooed this phrase on my foot – a meaning that I really love. I certainly didn’t think I would find my wedding song from a movie soundtrack – but I mean, listen to it – it is incredible.
:: What was your wedding song? Do you still listen to it & remember your wedding day? ::
Moulin Rouge is now available on Blu-Ray so go out and get your copy! This post is sponsored by Fox Home Entertainment & I received a copy of Moulin Rouge on Blu-ray. This is a true story in my own words & I already owned Moulin Rouge on DVD before this post.

That is a great song! Listening to it makes me want to pull out my old VHS tape and watch the movie, lol.
Our wedding song was "When you Say you Love Me" by Josh Groban. I am a huge fan of his and my husband admitted that we really couldn't choose any other song, since I love that one so much.
I am obsessed with dancing, so when I started dating a non-dancer, I was touched when he signed up for dance lessons. Of course, we neede to fin a song that was great for dancing. I have always loved Harry Connick Jr, and with only a few months to go before the wedding, I suggested one of my favorite songs – his first hit "We are in love." It was upbeat and happy, and really described how he had approached our relationship and his decision to propose, an gave us a chance to really tear up the dance floor with swing dancing, some charlston, and even some cha-cha, totally off the top of my husband's head – no choreography! I was floored by how well he led, even dropping to one knee when the song talked about proposing. Everyone was so touched about how hard he had worked to give me the perfect first dance.
Our "introduction" song, which we walked in to, was technically what we first danced to.. we chose "My First, My Last, My Everything"
This is by far definitely one of my favorite songs too! Oh I just love it! And I adore the movie too! I could watch it over and over again!
What a lovely song. And I love that movie. I put off watching it until long after it came out, because I wasn't expecting much, but it was excellent.
Our wedding song was Nothing Else Matters by Metallica. Yeah I know, heavy metal ballad, how cliche. But if you listen to the words, it's a really sweet song.
We didn't/don't have a song
But yours is lovely. I like the tattoo! I am sure that hurt!
Our first dance song was a song by Dave Matthews Band–Steady As We Go. Which I still love.
But it's the last dance song that seems to have imprinted itself on our minds when we think of our wedding: Somewhere over the rainbow by Isreal Kamakawiwo'ole. When we hear that song now, my husband will drop what he's doing to come dance with me!
Love yours! Ours was "De Repente" (Suddenly) by Soraya. She sings in Spanish and English. Spanish version just has perfect lyrics (good thing my husband doesn't speak a lick of Spanish). Even sadder is that this talented beautiful singer recently died of breast cancer. I think she was in her 30's. Wow. See song in English:

Our song was "Thank You" by Led Zeppelin. Brings me baxk to our wedding day every time I hear it!
Don't laugh, but our wedding song was living in sin.
We didn't really have a wedding song. Our ceremony was held at 10 in the morning and we had a wonderful jazz quartet play.
That being said, we have the band's CD and listen to it every once and awhile.
I remember our first dance like it were yesterday… I love your song, beautiful!
Amusingly enough our wedding song was come what may as well. It has been the motto of our relationship and marriage. My husband is in the Canadian navy so no matter how many moves across country, long deployments,or whatever else life throws us we always say to each other, "come what may."
this tattoo is absolutely amazing. and i love the meaning behind it.
