This is my first time participating in Way Back Wednesday and it could not be a better topic for me this week. This Saturday marks my 6th wedding anniversary with Ryan, the love of my life and my best friend.
We met WAAAAY back in high school 11 years ago. He was the year above me and happened to be friends with my brother. I still remember the first time we talked and we exchanged a penny in the hallway (another story for another day).
Anywhoo – this post is supposed to be about Prom:
I don’t actually have any specific story about prom – I am not one to be too adventurous or anything like that. I am really pretty boring. I did go to two proms during high school though. The first was in 2000 & the second in 2001 {i think – it is too hot today to do math}.

The cool thing that I love about both proms is I got to experience them with my not-yet-husband. We are high school sweethearts – met in 1999 and got to experience a lot of growing up together. We have been together and inseparable ever since and I think it is so cool to look back on those memories and have him there too.
Happy Anniversary Babe ♥

I love it! What an awesome story and I love the pictures! I've been with my husband since 17 so I love that we will be together so long!
YAY! Thanks for playing!
I love your story…so sweet! Looks like you had a great time <3
The second prom picture looks very familiar to me… I wonder if it was because I was sitting directly across the limo from you! Not many people can say they married the boy the went to prom with (well maybe they can…but you got to have 2 with him so that makes it extra special).
So cute! It is fun to know that there are other people out there that met there future husbands in high school like me! People are always shocked LOL
So cute, Jp and I met in 1999 too…but it was college and we didn't date officially until 2007….but I love looking back at our college memories.
My husband was my prom date too! Happy Anniversary
Happy Anniversary. What a great memory to share with your husband! Julee @@Mommy's Memorandum

Ah! I love it! My husband and I went to a dance together as well and we met in 8th grade. I love looking back at our old pics! Happy Anniversary!
Aww, this brought tears to my sappy eyes. Happy Anniversary, and I wish you many many more. I love reading high school sweetheart stories.

The penny exchange needs to be a post!

Happy Anniversary!
It's always surprising to me how many high school sweethearts stick together. It's kind of cool.
Happy Anniversary!
Here's to many more happy years together.
I love it! Of those I know who really do "make it" nowadays, it's the highschool sweethearts that seem to persevere! And of course, have the most romantic stories! Happy Anniversary!

happy anniversary!
It's weird to say now, but my favorite memory of prom/school dances is that I NEVER WENT TO ONE! No one asked me to prom in high school, and while a semi-bummer at the time, it was probably all for the best. I didn't want to go alone because I didn't know that many people at my high school, having been a transfer student my junior year. I used the money I would have spent on prom to buy textbooks my first semester of college – which turned out to be crucial since my college job hadn't started yet!
I will say, though, that not doing the "prom thing" really makes me look forward to getting to wear a wedding dress and look fabulous at my wedding. Everything else can be as he likes, I just want a pretty dress (and some gluten-free food of course). Now if only Mr. Boyfriend-of-Four-Years would get on board and propose!
What a fun post! I think it's cool that you got to experience growing up and all the milestones with your now-husband. Lots of good stories for kids and grandkids

Such a cute post. My husband and I met when I was in high school – he was 4 years older than me. I grew in Hawaii so it wasn’t as scandalous to date someone older as it may have been here in the mainland. People are always shocked when I tell them how much older he is.
