Top Ten Ways To Get Rid of Baby Fever

August 23, 2011

Baby Fever. I have it. A strong desire to add another child to our family can feel really huge some days. Until i can convince the husband, here are some ways that might help temporarily stave off the baby fever:

*****

10. The Stink : If you have a dog give it lots of dairy & chocolate. put a diaper on it & have ‘fun’changing it’s diarrhea-filled diapers all day (*note, yes I know chocolate is bad for a dog…this is not medical or pet advice, obvs)

9. Late is the new On Time : arrive at every scheduled appointment at least 25 minutes late

8. My Back Be Hurting : take a 5lb bag of potatoes and baby wear it for a day.

7. The Noise! : record a kid screaming. everytime you get the baby ping – listen to it on repeat for an hour

6. The Nothing Fits Phase : wear clothes that are 3 sizes too small or too big like you would after having a baby

5. Nap or Sleep : don’t shower for three days & still try to feel pretty because taking a 20 minute nap was way more important

4. Remember Colic? : borrow your friends baby during colic hours & remind yourself how great it feels to give that baby back at the end of the shift

3.  Sleeplessness : set your alarm every 2 hours to wake up & stay awake for an hour and then function “fully” the next day

2. Car Mess : take cookies, chips; crumble and pour all over your car. top with milk

&

1.  Realization : just give in. really.

Some days I have baby fever, just because my little man is growing up way too fast, plus everyone around me is having more babies. But truthfully I get rid of my baby fever, from my own baby. It seems whenever I want another baby or get the feeling, Dustin has a bad moment that drives me crazy and reminds me I am not ready for a second one just yet that I just want to love and cherish moments with him for as long as I can.

Well, you know me ;) . My daughter is 2 and everyone is having babies or getting pregnant… So yeah … Baby fever in full bloom. Funny how all these points are totally pointless when you get that + sign, hey :) ? Thanks for the laugh!

Bwahahahaha !!! This is great and very funny. I get baby fever once in a while, but it usually goes away pretty quickly after I have a bad day/night with both boys or if the husband goes out of town and while flying solo everyone gets the stomach flu. Times like those make me truly wonder if another child would push me over the edge. Thanks for the laugh :)

Hilarious tips! I actually don’t have baby fever right now but I think my husband does. He keeps discussing baby #3 which is why I run the other way every time he looks at me. ;)

My. Whole. Life. I have had baby fever. It’s not rational, but it is true. I have always, always, always wanted a baby. I have had dreams about having babies my entire life. I was never crazy enough to get pregnant on purpose with some random boyfriend, but I am now 8 weeks along with my first and my husband and I are thrilled. We are young- but we are not too young- and HOT DAMN. I am excited. Maybe that “this-is-a-lifetime-gig” fear will settle in at some point, but honestly it’s all happytimes around here these days. Even when I am puking up my breakfast. So. Excited. Consta-baby-fever. #1 is my only option. Finally.

I love this post! I’ll try anything to get rid of this baby fever. Babysitting helps a bit, but there’s only one cure, and I have to wait.

you are right – there really is only one cure — & i have to ‘wait’ too though not sure if the husband will ever become ‘sick’ with the baby fever too. good luck to you Emily :)

I have baby fever so bad. I’ve had a miscarriage a few years ago and I have been ok with not having a baby for the last 6 years. But now that I’m 25 years old and all my friends and family are having babies I want one of my own sooo bad!!! Like that’s all I think about, I feel incomplete without a child of my own. My husband is three years younger then me and doesnt think he’s ready for one. We had a dog but that did not help. I feel like I’m putting too much pressure on him and I need help to try and stop this baby fever!!!!!! :\

PLEASE do NOT give your dog dairy or chocolate. Dairy is not as bad for dogs as chocolate, however, it gives them an upset stomach. Chocolate is a MAJOR no-no for dogs. Chocolate has the chemical theobromide in it and it is EXTREMELY TOXIC to dogs. Baker’s chocolate is the worst type with the most theobromide. Followed by dark chocolate, milk chocolate, and white chocolate. I am a veterinary technician and any veterinary doctor will tell you the same thing. Even though the toxicity level is dependent upon the dog’s weight, it is STILL toxic to them. So unless you want to purposefully poison your dog, take him/her to the emergency and pay high vet bills, DO NOT give your dog chocolate!
