As a follow up to the Top Ten post last week (Facebook Users You Dont Want To Be) I thought i would share the Top Ten Twitter Users That Drive Me Crazy this week. Don’t wanna leave anyone out
*****
10. the shy: This user has a twitter account but you will only ever see links to their latest post or product. That’s it.
9. the over-share: This user loves to talk & sometimes a little too much. Tweeting while on the toilet & then tweeting to tell people that is well, over-sharing.
8. the never follows: This user will not follow you back. No matter how many times you talk to them and they talk back, they wont follow you back.
7. the pedestal: This user uses Twitter like their own personal soapbox or megaphone. Speaking at people instead of to people. (ie ask questions but never thanks for the replies or only tweets what they are doing)
6. the drama queen: This user loves to start drama or involve themselves in it. Complete with all the “foul” language you could think of
5. the Facebook Tweeter: This user has their Facebook page linked to their twitter account. If i wanted to follow you on Facebook I would have … & you can’t fake Twitter presence doing this.
4. the never replies: This user will not reply to tweets. You can tweet them a question, a compliment or a simple HELLO & you will hear crickets.
3. the “they love me, they really love me“: This user loves to re-tweet every time someone tweets something nice to them or mentions them in a positive light — or if they have been #FF recommended.
2. the contest queen: This user constantly begs their followers to vote for them/their kids for every “list” imaginable.
&
1. the “Auto DM”: This user loves to use a program that automatically sends you a ‘welcome’ direct message. They are never clever, they are never cute & they are never welcome. If you are going to do this – at least follow back so we can DM back & tell you to stop.
::What type of users have you come across that peeve you?::

Oh man, I hope I’m not one of these.
Okay, I think I might be an oversharer. I did tweet that I had cabbage in my bra once. #TMI #oopssorryDevan
I’m all for #buttingin on conversations – but only between people you tweet with often. There are some folks out there who ‘stalk’ certain tweeps, and jump in on conversations between a group of people, and no one in the group (maybe except one or two) know that person. It’s okay if they’re friendly and normal, but some are just plain creepy and weird.

i dont think that is an over-share — i just cant personally deal with ‘potty humor’ stuff

Tooo funny! Love your comment on hearing crickets. Hysterical and true. I doubt all of us are perfect so it’s good to get reminders. I feel like I RT too often, but I have basic Twitter and can’t get in a proper thank you to all tweets, so sometimes I RT and then thank the person in a separate tweet. I hate the stalky follows and automated type responses. As I’ve tweeted before, I’m smart enough to go to your website if I want to. DM’ing me or tweeting one’s site to me only makes me unfollow immediately. Still, I love Twitter. Great, quick way to keep up with folks and news of interest.
Hugs,
Shirley

I have never noticed you RT too often Shirley! & yes i LOVE twitter too!
Hi, I just found you through a mutual Twitter follower (hello stalker? Love that it’s not weird on Twitter) and I love this post! So true. Of course I had to look at it to double check something I do isn’t on here. Sometimes I think I talk too much, but thankfully there are others who trump me, so I’m not too worried. I hate the Facebook tweeters too! Such different audiences – it almost never makes sense.

Happy to have you Mrs Weber! I think it would be hard to talk ‘too much’ unless it is literally all the time.
Thank goodness I don’t do these!

This list is spot on! Unfortunately, I have days where I totally fit the bill for a couple if these, but most of the time I am engaged w/ my tweeps.

Many thanks for your time and erofft to have put these things together on this website. Janet and I very much treasured your knowledge through the articles with certain things. I am aware that you have quite a few demands on your own program therefore the fact that you actually took equally as much time just like you did to help people like us by way of this article is also highly prized.

I agree with all of these. I’d add: “The over thanker” –the person who feels the need to writer general tweets (rather than @mentions) thanking every single person who ever RTs them, follows them, or includes them in an #ff. I wrote a popular blog post on this! Hoping to start a “Twitter doesn’t have to be so tit for tat” revolution!

3, 4, and 8 are my biggest pet peeve’s on Twitter. Seriously, they drive me crazy. I have unfollowed people for these things.

Spot on Devan {as usual
}. I know there are some *popular* bloggers that I follow that don’t have the time to reply to everyone. But I do like seeing them reply to at least some of the people who reply back not just of those that are popular too. When I’ve replied back so often and hear crickets, I don’t reply back to them anymore because I don’t see the use. & yes yuck to the auto DMs!

I imagine it is hard for the users who get a million @’s a day – but you are right – as long as i can see them engaging back with someone or a few people who are not in the same ‘level’ its good.

Hi! I’m confused by the FB comment vs. blog comment. In case that didn’t work, here it is:

I definitely am under a few of those. *hides in a corner*
I don’t like the people who, no matter how often I tweet them, I rarely get no replies back. After a while, I just unfollow and block, harsh, but it’s annoying to try and talk to someone/ask for advice from them/etc and they just never reply.
I haven’t run into the Auto DM’s yet though. Didn’t even know that was possible?
Great post!

I do the same thing for the never replies – what is the point then right?

hahaha!
I’ve been guilty of not following people back. And I absolutely hate the contest queens – like, once in a while is fine and normal. But constantly?

I can sometimes not follow back too – it can be hard sometimes to tell if i am following back with someone who is engaging with me (using tweetdeck it doesnt say if i follow already & sometimes i assume i already am)

I am sometimes a “they love me they really love me” tweeter. Partly because I Do get excited when people start interacting with me on Twitter. Kind of like a puppy that gets noticed. I’m trying to control myself. A little bit.

I hear you – i do
They say the first step is acknowledging right
I do every one of those things b/c I didn’t know they were dorky.
Except the FB link up one, at least I don’t think I do.
Wait, I’m such a loser, I probably do.
*sigh*
I should just shut up the computer and go back to meeting people at playgroup.
Wait, no…that didn’t work out, either…why I turned to the internet for friends.

Oh dear… and I thought I could relate to most of your Facebook list.
Oh yay! I’m not as bad as a tweeter as I thought I was.
