Root Beer Pork Chops

Root beer Pork chops with brown rice and asparagus
This recipe is another favourite for my family. All three of my kids love it and it’s a frequent dinner made when my younger brother comes over too.  What I love so much about this recipe is it is naturally gluten free – the benefit of that being that I don’t have to search out for a gf option of some obscure ingredient and that makes it more economical.

Keep reading for ingredients and directions

Ingredients:

  • 4 pork chops
  • 1/2 cup ketchup
  • 2 Tbs soy sauce (gluten free)
  • 1 tsp garlic
  • 2tbs root beer or cola
  • salt and pepper to taste

Directions:

  1. Preheat oven to 350
  2. Mix all ingredients (except pork chops) together in a bowl and set aside
  3. Line pork chops into baking dish and cover with root beer mixture
  4. Cook for 40-50 minutes depending on thickness of pork chops

Root Beer Pork Chops

I love serving these pork chops with brown rice with the left over sauce on top. Asparagus is a vegetable we eat a lot around here too – and broccoli!

I know root beer sounds like a strange ingredient! Brown sugar is used in a lot of bbq-type sauces and this was just my take on that – instead of the BBQ use root beer (or cola) and it gives it a more fun flavor!
