Quick Recap of My Conference This Weekend

This weekend I was in Ottawa to attend the Canadian Celiac Association National Conference. I had not been to one of these national conferences before so I wasn’t 100% sure how much awesome it would be – though i had some idea.

This weekend was way “awesomer” then i thought it would be. My brain is tingling with all the information I learned and the fabulous people i got to meet. Canada is rocking some stuff when it comes to safe labeling laws and the research that is being done right now is great.  I am excited to share all that i learned though it will be spanned across several posts because there was that much awesome!

I wanted to share some quick photos i took from the weekend.  Mostly these are pictures of the food that i ate because this was my first gluten free conference.  You know what that meant?  Buffet food that i could actually eat and not need to ask a million questions about safety and contamination and explaining that gluten is not glue.

All Registered

Awake and heading to the conference. HUGE thanks to Kinnikinnick Foods!

Breakfast Day 1

mmm Lunch!

Me trying to decide if i should brave the rain to search for food

I found some dinner at a grocery store :)

Called my kids via Skype to say HI

Breakfast Day 2 (did i mention it was all gluten free :) )

Food looks good right! I am sorry i don’t have more pictures of the actual conference and of the vendors area – i think i was the only one there who was tweeting/posting and one of the only ones who was always on the phone (people actually mentioned to me that i must be ‘really busy’).  If you want to read some quick infomation – search the hashtag #CCANC on twitter or view my twitter feed.

Again i will be writing up some posts in the next few weeks outlining in more detail what i learned.  New labeling laws passed here in Canada, current research, current trials for medication for celiac disease,  and some interesting tidbits about how celiac disease and the gluten free diet — stay tuned for all that awesome!

A HUGE thank you to Kinnikinnick Foods for your support in making it possible for me to attend the conference  - means the world to me!

I did try to follow the hastag on Twitter but unfortunately you seemed to be the only one sharing via Twitter. I’m shocked it didn’t get more attention but thanks for your contributions. I guess I can add this to my list of reasons to attend next year. Glad to hear you enjoyed yourself!

i was the only one sharing & thought it was too bad as well. I didnt get to tweet out as much as i had hoped to since the 3G was being so slow. It would have been great to be able to read what others though too. i bet a lot of the reason is they did not offer free wifi access… they were charging $50 for the day (?!)

Next year it’s being held in Kelowna, BC (May 25-27th)

I’m glad you got to go, too! Now I can hear all about it through your posts!
And that food looks fabulous-I remember we had such a time at BlogHer finding food that we could eat O.o It’s nice to know you didn’t have to do that this time!
