A new guest post series from some of my favourite bloggers talking about blogging and their life. This week we have BA from The HeirToBlair:
******
So Devan emailed me awhile back, asking the incredible honor of being featured on her blog. & I’m all HELL YEAH & what do you want me to talk about? so she sent over a few prompts.
Within seconds, I knew that I was a messed up human being & probably one of the freaks your momma warned you about.
1. Why did you start blogging? To talk about my vagina.
2. What have you learned about life through blogging? That I like to talk about my vagina.
3. What have you been most surprised about regarding blogging? How easy it is to talk about my vagina.
4. Any tips/tricks insider info for those interested in starting their own blog? DO NOT TALK ABOUT YOUR VAGINA.
I mean, really.
I honestly did begin blogging about my vagina & all the baby-making drama that went along with it. Somewhere in that first year, I began really having fun with it. Writing stories, taking pictures, discovering life through these new, crazy, story-telling eyes that opened my eyes up to the world around me. Suddenly, every experience was a story. I began paying attention to the eye wrinkles of the secretary at work. I noticed the smells of my favorite restaurant, jotting them down as we ate dinner the eve before it closed. I dug into my gut, writing from the soul until it split me wide-open for the world to see, vulnerable yet stronger than ever. A simple giggle turned into an exercise to close my eyes & describe my son’s giggle. To grab the video camera & record it, then to set it to music & listen to it over & over & over again.
& you cannot tell stories without experiences, which gets me out of the house & into the world & experiencing pain & joy, from heartbreak in an emergency room to sunshine pouring through the grass at the local park.
Blogging allows me to tell my life story. It allows me to dig deep & bare my heart in the most intimate, public display of life that I could ever imagine. It forces me to pay attention, to grasp details & savor moments & then relive on repeat.
What’s your story? Will you tell it?

This is almost exactly the same thing I have found with blogging. (not the vagina part though
) I love how I view life now through my experiences and how I can describe them. I see things I didn’t see before b/c I want to write about them and tell people about them. I experience things!!!
Love the blogger world

Love your thoughts on blogging as a way to tell your story, grasp the details, savor the moments and relive on repeat. At the end of the day, huge readership or not, blogging provides a record of our lives. Love you BA and looking forward to saying hi at BlogHer

I love the way BA wrote that as well – i have really noticed that i can ‘see’ the smaller details now. BA really is great at describing those moments in her posts.

It’s just so true. Blogging really puts the simpliest things into a story. It’s fabulous! It makes every little thing in our daily lives an adventure, and then there is the added benifit that we are able to keep a record of it! BONUS!!!

Love it. Very touching and right on emotionally. You are right – that’s why we do it. (And, for the record I don’t think I’ve used the word vagina one time while blogging – until 5 words ago)

you know – i think this is the first time “vagina” has been on my blog too — & BA managed to get the word in four times in one post

I love this interview. It took me a while before I started blogging about my vagina, but I got there eventually, too.

haha! so funny Tat – I think i *almost* talked about it myself a few weeks ago – but was more focused on my uterus — threw a few people off. I bet one day soon i get to telling stories in more detail about my vagina too
