Product Review: Rizopia Rice Pasta
When I was first diagnosed with Celiac Disease back in 2007 I was worried that I would never again be able to enjoy normal food. One of the foods I loved so much was pasta and was not sure I was willing to give that up. Not only is it a filling, cheap food – there are SO many ways to use pasta – so I was on the hunt for the best gluten free pasta.
Now, fast forward to 3 years later I have been using the BEST pasta for almost 1.5yrs now – finding it has made my life complete again.
Rizopia Rice Pasta is a Canadian company (which is a bonus for me being Canadian) who has a dedicated facility ensuring the products are gluten and nut free. Sold in brown rice, wild rice, vegetable and organic they are also free from dairy, soy, egg and fish (making it free from the 8 most common food allergies). Comes in 9 different shapes and is also Kosher Certified.
The pasta has a great texture (remember I am all about the texture in food) – the perfect mix between chewy and soft. With other gluten free pastas I have found them to be either too hard or too soggy – often with a ‘gooey’ residue, even after rinsing. With Rizopia Rice Pasta there is no residue left over as long as it is not over cooked. My husband, who does not need to eat gluten free, can not tell the difference between this rice pasta and other gluten-containing pastas, it’s that good!
I have not yet tried the organic or wild rice varieties but my favourite right now is the brown rice fusilli – cooks up perfectly in 10 minutes and is the perfect size for my kids (aged 1-4) to eat without having to cut it up for them. Another great thing is it is available to purchase at my grocery store – so no running around out of the way to pick it up.Share This Post: Tweet
