Winter – oh how i loathe thee. I usually avoid going out unnecessarily – but this year since P has started school we have to venture out into the snowy cold 3 times a week at least. Fun, right?
Add in a child who can not stand anything on his hands – something he has been very adamant about since he was very young. He hates dirt, sticky stuff and mittens on his hands. Trying to do so will cause tantrums – big ones and a refusal to wear them. Never was a huge problem in the past because we just avoided going out for too long in the cold.
Wasn’t going to work this year. He has recess at school, wants to play in the snow and has to wear mittens. At the start of the winter season I bought 6 different types of mittens and gloves. Tight ones, loose ones, homemade ones, gloves, mittens, shorter, longer – you name it. He would come home with cold hands and a note from his teacher.
I needed to find something. I put it out to twitter & a friend suggested mimiTENS™. She hadn’t tried them but had heard about them. I headed over to their website to learn more about them.
mimiTENS™ are:
mittens that stay on with no strings attached. Our mittens feature long, stretchy cuffs that reach the elbow. From the fabrics to the embroidery every aspect of our mittens has been carefully considered.
mimiTENS™ ALL WEATHER are meant for colder climates. They are made of water-repellent nylon and lined with Thinsulate insulation as well as Oeko Tex certified bamboo/organic cotton fleece.
The Motorbike ones caught my eye – i knew that alone would be a big selling point for my son & will get him to at least try them on. When they arrived & he saw them i was right & he was interested in putting them on right away.
The mittens are perfect for him. They are not too tight & not too loose and the inside of the mittens are so SOFT! The sleeves that go right up to near the elbow help him feel that they are secure and wont fall off if he moves his hands.
We has been using these mittens 3x a week for a month now and the arguments and letters from the teacher are over. No more stand-stills about putting his mittens on and no more cold hands.
mimiTENS™ are available in sizes from newborn to 5 years old & they even have a great line for women. You can find them in a store near you or you can visit their website and purchase online.
Disclaimer: mimiTENS™ sent me a pair of their motorbike all weather mittens in exchange for a review. I honestly love this product & this review has been in no way swayed by the free product or the company.
