Product Review: Bora Bora Organic Foods

March 24, 2010

Bora Bora Organic Foods sent us some samples of their most popular organic, all natural bars. 7 different flavors from 3 of their fundamental lines and I was excited to try each one out.

Bora Bora Organic Bars are all USDA certified organic, all natural, gluten free. Each is free from preservatives, artificial sweeteners, colors and flavors and are non-GMO. Many are also vegan, kosher with no refined sugar.

Our promise of healthy living is immediately evident in the bars we make, but we also believe healthy food should be enjoyed on a healthy planet. So we’re working on initiatives that support sustainable farming practices, as well as renewable energy resources that minimize waste.

Packaging:
Each bar comes in an individually wrapped 40g bar and labeled in one of the 3 categories: Live Long Antioxidant, Get Going Energy and Feel Great Superfood. Bars can be purchased in a box of 12.  Each is labeled with ‘organic’, ‘all-natural’ as well as the other perks of the Bora Bora Bars (including gluten free).
Taste and Texture:

Feel Great SuperFood
Exotic Coconut Almond: First bite of this product I am met with a wonderful toasted coconut taste. Add in the dry roasted whole almonds and this bar was a hit. The texture is a perfect blend of chewy and soft and a wonderful crunch of nuts.
Tropical Sesame Cranberry: This bar is a combination of peanuts, sesame seeds, cranberry, raisins and pumpkin seeds. This one is a bit too chewy for me, but the taste combination is really good. The peanut taste is prominent in this bar but blends really well with the sesame and cranberry.

Wild Pomegranate Pecan: The combination of this bar is one of my favourites. Sweeter then the other ones, this bar has a great blend of pecans, cashews, raisins cherries with pomegranate juice. The texture had a great chew to it but does not tire out my jaw.

Get Going Energy

Island Brazil Nut Almond: Another hit with me! The blend of brazil nuts, peanuts and raisins in this bar is much crunchier then the other ones. Sunflower seeds and pumpkin seeds mixed in with the crisp rice adds a wonderful texture to the overall bar.

Volcanic Chocolate Banana: I was not a fan of this flavor. I will admit I am not a fan of banana (especially not dried banana) so I didn’t have high hopes for this one. The texture is off for me too because of the crunchy walnuts mixed with the crisp banana and chewy crisp rice, I just did not enjoy this one.

Live Long Antioxidant

Paradise Walnut Pistachio: The flavor blends in this bar is intriguing to me. Mixing the hard pistachio with the walnut was confusing as the textures did not blend as well as my palate would like. The aftertaste of cinnamon was quite over powering.

Tiki blueberry Flax: I loved the texture and taste of this bar. By far my favourite, the blend of flax, peanuts, almonds and crisp rice had this bar perfect the line between crunchy and chewy. The flavor blending between the nuts and fruits left a perfect combination for the sweetness and the heartiness.

Bora Bora Organic Foods has a wonderful variety of gluten free bars to choose from. More then one are sure to satisfy your palate.  My favourites were Tiki Blueberry Flax, Wild Pomegranate Pecan and Island Brazil Nut Almond!
