Found Princess R Upset & Crying…

September 13, 2011

A few days ago I was downstairs doing laundry and as I was walking back up the stairs I could hear a familiar sound. A faint cry coming from upstairs I could hear Princess R.  I could tell she was hurt but it sounded like something more then physical pain.

I drop the laundry basket and head upstairs following the sound of her whimpers.  I find her in her room, sitting on her bed. Knees up.

I walk closer and I can she she has wrapped her comfort blanket {to which she has named ‘blankey’} around her right foot and she is holding it tightly.

What am I going to do now?” she says.

She looks up at me with tears in her eyes.  I glance down and ask her if I can take a look at her foot.

I carefully unwrap blankey from her foot and take a peek. Her foot looks fine. Nothing noticeably wrong with it – nothing that should be causing her so much distress.

What happened babe? What hurts?” i ask her.

She looks up with me – her beautiful brown eyes with tears dripping onto her cheek and she says,

“My thinking toe is hurt. I think i broke my thinking toe. What will I do now?”

I am confused. What is a thinking toe? I ask her again to tell me what happened and to point to where it hurts.

She unwraps her blankey further and points to her baby toe.  She tells me she was walking to her bed and kicked her foot on the side of her dresser and hurt her ‘thinking toe‘.

I am trying to hold back the laughter – she is so upset about her ‘thinking toe’. I ask her what a ‘thinking toe’ is and she looks up at me – now angry and says,

A thinking toe.  you know, the toe that helps your brain think. you have two thinking toes and two thinking fingers. What am i going to do now that i hurt one thinking toe?

I give her a kiss on her pinky toe thinking toe and try to assure her that everything will be okay.

Aw :( Poor thing.
That’s adorable. This is one of those things you have to record, just so you don’t forget it. When she’s 17, you can ask if she remembers her thinking toe ;)

This is so cute. I’m sorry she hurt her thinking toe but it does make for great blog fodder.

yeah – true :) I think it is so adorable the way her mind works like that – the innocence of a child.

Is it possible to die of cute overload?

Seriously, I big puffy <3 this story.

And stubbing a toe freaking hurts! I know I can't think when I do it – so Princess R may not be too far off.

Now, you may laugh, but I HAD A THINKING TOE! A friend pointed out once that when I was really concentrating I pointed my big toe skyward – hence the name. A thinking toe is a very special thing x
