I Am Doing Something Crazy … The Update.

December 13, 2010

same day payday loans

First I want to thank you all for your encouragement and your tips and tricks that you shared with me last week. I survived that morning and even surprised myself & I went running 3 days last week. three people! I am here with an update on what I learned last week and hoping to pick your brain with a few more questions.

1. I am no good at running. seriously i suck. BUT each run I was able to run for a longer period and I can only get better from here. right?

2. There has got to be something better out there for the ‘girls’.  I read somewhere that running/jogging is the worst exercise for your breasts & I believe it.  Right now I am wearing 3 bras. three – just to keep everything stabilized.  I need to get some sort of super-sonic sports bra. Something that will fit and work and be comfortable.  Any ideas??

3. I am afraid of falling.  It is winter here and I am running on the sidewalks. Where i live the city is notoriously bad at keeping their sidewalks clear of snow and ice and i am scared!  I break easily. I fall easily and I am crazy for doing this in the winter.

So the plan peoples is to do the couch to 5k program.  It makes sense to me and it lets me start off slow (so i don’t feel like a failure!) and so many of you recommended it to me.  I am going to try to stick with this and will update you on my progress (or lack of).  I wont be tracking my weight because – well i don’t want to obsess over those numbers. So i will use my running ability as a tracker on how i am doing.

I plan to run 3-4 times a week – sometimes early in the morning and sometimes later in the evening.  I have two running partners but even this week when neither were able to make it for our Friday run – I went myself. shocker right. seems so simple. but it was cold out, it was late and i had a million excuses not to go but i did.

:: I would love to hear your suggestions on the best running bras, any words on encouragement and if you exercise where do you find the time? ::

1. You will get better and gain more endurance with each run. Running even just one minute longer each time is progress.

2. I dont have big boobs, BUT I ran with lots of ladies who did. Try searching for a minimizer sports bra. Also, a snug fitting top like Under Armour (it'll also work great for the cold weather).

3. If it's icy it's not worth running, there is nothing you can do and it's hard to stop a fall when you're running. Also, running in snow is similar to running in soft sand, so keep that in mind…it'll make your run tougher and your knees ache after a long distance. Cross train on days when it's too yucky to run outdoors.

Keep up the great work!!!

Get thee to a running store and have thyself fitted for a real running bra. I suggest Moving Comfort brand. Do NOT buy any pull-it-over-your-head things from a discount store. They don't work and it will hurt.

Yak Traks (or similar) are good for the slippery conditions – but as LCW said – if it's actually ICY, use a treadmill until conditions improve. It's not worth the injury to run outside in awful weather.

Please be careful on ice…it you can use a treadmill or do cross-training. You'd be surprised how much other forms of exercise can boost your running momentum. Also, running will get easier. A year ago I couldn't run a mile and I did my first half marathon in March. Sorry I have no suggestions for the bra thing because I am not well-endowed.

I use an Enell sports bra — I buy them on eBay to save a little money. I wear a DD cup size and the girls do not move AT ALL. Highly recommend!

First off congratulations for still going strong. I am proud of you.

Like I mentioned before I would love to be able to run but cant't even make it around the block. You have more info on this couch to 5k thing?

How awful is it running in the snow? I can get a cheap gym membership but don't drive so can't get to the gym to run which leaves me with the streets. OH and let me know if you find a solution for the girls. Even doing biggest loser on the wii the bra is useless and they hurt.

Seriously many congrats to you – I hate running and although I have occasionally considered trying to do it…I just am not sure I want to.

OoOooOoo, a runner! I always wanted to be one, but it just isn't in me! I will live vicariously though you!

I am, however, a minuscule gym rat! I don't have large breasts either (think well shaped C's) but I LOVE my Champion sports bras! I picked them up at Costco, 2 for $15 and they are FABULOUS for exercise or lounging. Just don't expect any cleavage 'cause they kinda suck everything in!

Keep us informed!
