| Gluten Free/Casein&Dairy Free Hummus |
I have been on the hunt for a good vegetable dip that my family could eat. Since we have both a casein intolerance and a lactose intolerance in the house {as well as gluten} it was harder to find one that would fit all three restrictions. There are some incredible dips out there with dairy, so having a lactose issue you could get away with eating a yogurt based dip most of the time, not the case with the casein allergy.I have heard about hummus but had never really tried it before. I decided to make some and see what we thought of it. It is gluten free and casein free and as a bonus it is also really healthy. We eat it with cut up vegetables and it is SO GOOD!
Ingredients:
- 1 can (15oz) chick peas – drained with juices reserved
- 1 jalapeno – fresh and chopped (seeds removed)
- 1/2 tsp ground cumin
- 3 cloves garlic – minced
Directions:
- In a blender or food processor add chick peas, jalapeno, cumin and garlic and 2Tbs of the reserved bean juices.
- Blend until smooth {adding more bean juices if needed}

Looks yummy!
Charlette LOVES hummus! It is our favourite go-to-quick-lunch food. She eats it with cucumber, crackers, a spoon or her finger (usually her finger). Sadie also really likes it which is great.
I love hummus!! It makes a great dip!!
Looks good. I love hummus!
So excited to have your join the mommam's munchies, and it'll be great having some allergy friendly recipes. And I "discovered" I loved hummus a few years ago….DEE-licious!
Love hummus! I've been eating a lot of it since I can't really have anything else dip-wise right now. At least it seems like it!
I'll have to try out your recipe.
