Gluten Free Traditional Bread Stuffing

November 13, 2010

Traditional Bread & Celery Stuffing is one of the staples of the holiday dinners for us. Thanksgiving, Christmas and any time we get together for a big family turkey meal – stuffing will be there.  Eating gluten free – things have not changed & we still enjoy stuffing just like usual – with just one minor change … no gluten.
keep reading for ingredients and directions:

Ingredients:
  • 1 loaf of gluten free bread (I used Kinnikinnick Robins Honey Brown Rice Bread)
  • 3/4 cup of butter
  • 1onion; chopped
  • 2 stalks celery; chopped
  • 2 tsp poultry seasoning
  • 1 cup chicken broth (gluten free)
  • salt and pepper; to taste

Directions:

  1. Let bread defrost (if you bought from frozen) & sit on counter for 3-4hrs; cut into cubes
  2. In a sauce pot, heat butter over medium heat. Cook onion and celery until soft.
  3. Add seasoning and salt & pepper
  4. Stir in bread cubes and moisten with chicken broth mixing all ingredients well.
  5. You can use this to stuff in the turkey or you can bake in a casserole dish at 350 degrees for approx 35 minutes.
