Embarking on a new diet can be overwhelming at first. Whether you are using the gluten free diet because of celiac disease, gluten allergy, gluten intolerance or other medical/personal reasons the gluten free diet has been long understood as complicated and difficult. I have been on the diet for 5 years and 2 out of my 3 kids are also on a strict gluten free diet. I have learned that it’s really not as complicated as it’s made out to be.
So, what’s the secret to simple gluten free eating?
Eat natural, healthy and home cooked.
Truly it is that simple. Fresh vegetables, fruits, meat, fish and rice are all naturally gluten free. Creating your breakfasts, lunches, dinners and snacks with natural foods – and naturally gluten free is healthier for anyone in the long run and it doesn’t over complicate things.
If your family tends to eat out a lot or rely heavy on meals that are prepackaged then eating gluten free can feel like quite the challenge. There are a lot more packaged gluten free products available now and if you live in a relatively large town you can typically find them with little issue. They are more expensive though and if your entire household is gluten free it can become expensive quickly.
Learning to cook at home with just a few simple variations can help save money, increase food quality, quantity and even without the need/choice for a gluten free diet – eating as naturally as possible has huge heath benefits.
