#Blogher12 New York City, Here I Come! (+ News!)

August 1, 2012

It’s that time of year again where the bloggers of the world congregate at the largest conference for women — BlogHer! This year it’s being held in New York City again and I am thrilled to be going for the third year in a row.

I am excited to learn, see old friends, meet new friends and thankful I have an amazing sponsor for my trip. They have been a supporter of mine and Accustomed Chaos since the very beginning andt hey make it possible for me to attend. Kinnikinnick Foods is the perfect fit as they provide the best in dedicated gluten free, dairy free and nut free bakery products (with an added bonus of also being Canadian).

This is my third year attending BlogHer, but for some reason I am a big more nervous this year than previous years. May have something to do with it being in NYC & that’s a bit intimidating. Could just be the normal nerves I have when I do something totally out of my everyday normal. There seem to be a lot more exciting things happening this year and generally I am hoping to get a lot out of this year, including all the people on my “must meet” list.

I have the best room mates again this year, which always makes things fun! Lori from Mommyfriend and Tina from LifeWithoutPink will be listening to me snore (erm… I don’t snore) in the wee hours of the night right up until Sunday. Having totally awesome room mates makes a difference in how the weekend will go, so I already know this will be fun!

Another “make me nervous” thing about this trip just popped up a few days ago. Unspoken Grief — the community resources and support site I founded just over a year ago is a finalist for the Bloganthropy Award. I was shocked when I got the news and it truly means the world to me! I will be at the panel “Using Social Media for Social Good” on Friday to listen to the finalists talk about their cause and may or may not be a bit nervous about speaking at a BlogHer panel. Unspoken Grief means so much to me and recognition for how it’s helping others — well, I can’t ask for anything more.

I am looking forward to meeting you — please do let me know if you’re going and lets meet!
