This past weekend I felt like I was 14 years old again and not in a good way. Thanks to my crazy out of tune hormones, I started to get some blemishes on my face around my nose and chin. Not a cute look for a 30-year old woman and it’s something I haven’t had to deal with in a while.
I have a very strict routine when it comes to taking care of the skin on my face. I am afraid of wrinkles and do what I can to try and keep my skin healthy, so this new look was something I wanted to get rid of quickly. Thankfully, I remembered a ‘treatment’ I did when I had this problem in high school, tried it out and happily it still worked! It’s simple and cheap and so if you ever find yourself with a breakout or two (or want to have add something new to your skin care routine) this is simple to do and it works!

- 2-5 uncoated aspirin
- spoon
- 1 teaspoon warm water
- Using the back side of the spoon, crush the aspirin into a powder
- Add 1 drop of water at a time to the crushed aspirin until it’s a thick paste
- Apply over a cleansed face and leave on for 20 minutes
- Wash off and apply moisturiser
Aspirin works by not only drying out the blemish, but since it’s an anti-inflammatory it reduces the size and swelling of the skin and you will find the redness goes down as well. You can use this as a spot treatment or use 2-3 times a week all over your face as part of your regular face routine. Just a note, aspirin could dry the skin if you use it too much so be sure to moisturise well afterwards.
