A Small Change in Pace

October 22, 2011

This weekend I am going to try something new. Something that I should do more often but for some reason I haven’t. I am making it a goal until Monday. I am going to stick with it and hope that it gives me what I am looking for.

I am going to unplug for Saturday – Monday morning.  I am going to stop all notifications on my phone. I am not going to check page views, comments, email or twitter. I am going to avoid the internet for all work/blog related things.

unplug.

I need to regroup. I need to focus on my family – on myself. I am slowly creeping into blogger burn out and to avoid that this is what I need to do.  I love my work, I love engaging with all of you and getting your feedback, getting to know you and being available to answer questions. I love it but that is why I need to take a very mini-vacation from it all.

I have a weird fear that if I am not available I will miss out on something or that I will not respond quick enough to someone’s question or call for help/information. I don’t like that feeling but in order for me to be able to do that – I need to focus on me sometimes too, right?

Especially now with a kidney stone that is not letting up – rest that needs to be recouped and the danger time of the month for me is creeping up.  So, if you need me I will be back again Monday morning – until then … have a great weekend!

{side note: I am working on a post for Babble highlighting photos of real mom’s breastfeeding. if you have a photo you would be willing to contribute please email it to me with your name and blog url if you have one to accustomedchaos(@)gmail.com. Thanks!}

Sometimes, this is EXACTLY what you need! Trust me, you’re doing the right thing and as your break goes on, that little nagging I’m-missing-something feeling will go away :)

Well, as much as it can anyway. LOL

And for goodness sake woman, feel better!!

Ok – so I’m only reading this after the weekend, and I saw that I have another post of yours, so you’ve obviously checked back in & survived . . . I love unplugging, but never, ever get the chance to do it. and I’m the same as you, terrified I’d miss something big, only, after unplugging, I realize that the definition of “big” really is different.
